Title: Supporting a hybrid data model at scale for data analytic workflows
Abstract
Economic competitiveness and national security depend increasingly on the insightful analysis of large data sets. The diversity of heterogeneous data sources and analytic workflows impose challenging hardware and software requirements not met by traditional approaches. Relational table-based methods obscure complex patterns of activities in time and space, while pure graph platforms cannot perform efficiently join and select operations or matrix computations when required. In this talk, I will describe a hybrid data model we are developing to run at scale on emerging high-performance computer systems that supports tables, graphs, and matrices without preference. Our software stack, HAGGLE, comprises a hierarchical graph method library, extendible APIs, an abstract graph model for code transformations and optimizations, and an abstract multhreaded runtime system capable of hiding memory and synchrozation latencies. I will present code examples and performance results.
