HARVARD SUMMER PROGRAM IN GREECE – DATA SCIENCE

NAFPLIO & CRETE
3 JUNE – 26 JULY 2019

If you are planning to pursue academic study abroad this summer, we invite you to consider the Harvard Summer Program in Nafplio and Crete (Greece) – Data Science, 2019, under the title “Introduction to Data Science with Applications”.

This new Harvard study-abroad program stretches for eight weeks in Greece, world-renowned for its landscapes, summer climate, and rich history. The program begins with a week-long orientation in Nafplio and Athens, followed by seven weeks in Rethymno, on the island of Crete.

The focus of the coursework is on the analysis of messy, real-life data that will allow students to perform predictions and inference using statistical and machine learning methods. It consists of lectures, hands-on labs in python, and innovative projects. Out-of-class activities and excursions to archaeological, scientific, and other sites of interest complement the study sessions and offer the opportunity to students to explore the island’s cultural life and extraordinary natural beauty.

The course carries 8 credits, counting as one full-year course of degree credit.
Prerequisites: One year of prior programming coursework and an introductory-level course in statistics.

Applications are due January 31, 2019.
Students will be notified of admission decisions by late February.
