Novartis – Data Science Summer Scholars Opportunity

Who We Are: NIBR is the global pharmaceutical research organization for Novartis. We act as an innovation engine; focusing on powerful new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients. In the Translational Clinical Oncology (TCO) group, we work to develop and execute first-in-human and proof-of-concept clinical trials for NIBR oncology compounds.

TCO Internship Overview: The TCO department is looking for a summer intern who can help automate our tracking systems, and provide us with elegant data visualizations. We deal with large amounts clinical trial data that needs to be tracked an assessed efficiently. With your help, we can streamline our processes, cut down on routine tasks, and explore our data effortlessly. You will be paired with a TCO mentor who will guide you in your project development, and orient you to the pharmaceutical industry. We are looking for motivated and creative summer interns with intrinsic curiosity. A background in Microsoft Excel, VBA, R and/or Python would be helpful, but is not necessary.

Position Information: This is a full-time paid internship from June 3rd – August 9th 2019, located in NIBR in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Financial support for housing, and university housing is available. Please complete the financial assistance portion of the application to be considered. Health insurance will be provided to those who will not have continuous coverage during the summer.

Eligibility: The position is available to students who have completed their sophomore year in college, but not graduated from a Master’s program prior to the start of the internship. Ph.D. and M.D. students are ineligible. Applicants must attend a university in a U.S. state or territory and be eligible to work in the United States. Students should have a strong desire to pursue graduate-level education in biological sciences, chemistry, or computational sciences, and have at least a G.P.A of 3.3 out of a 4.0 scale.
